About Town - Manhattan Beach
Wall debuts Friday
Thanks to a generous donation from the Hometown Fair 10K Run Committee, the city of Manhattan Beach will unveil its newest addition, a bouldering wall, at a Manhattan Heights ceremony Friday at 5:30 p.m. The wall is designed for ages six and above, but youths under age 13 must climb with adult supervision. The Manhattan Heights Park is located at 1600 Manhattan Beach Boulevard, Manhattan Beach.
Garden Room park talk
On Sept. 28 from 7-9 p.m., the group calling itself Residents for a Quality City will conduct a workshop for local residents who want to convert the Metlox site into a park. Two landscape architects will be on hand to present their concept plans for the park. The public is invited to comment on the plans and make suggestions. The workshop will be in the Garden Room at Barnabey's Hotel on Sepulveda in Manhattan Beach. Admission is free.

For more information or to volunteer, call Patrick Tanaka at 310-374-2369.
Lions book pickup
The Lions Club of Manhattan Beach, continuing the service initiated last year by Lionel and Donna McQuillon, will pick up books donated to the Manhattan Beach Friends of the Library for its monthly book sales. Call Lion Lionel McQuillon at 310-545-3578 to arrange a pickup, whether it's one book or an entire lot.
