About Town - Hermosa Beach

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has set aside $100,000 for refurbishment of the public library in Hermosa Beach, announced Supervisor Don Knabe, who represents the South Bay.

The money was part of $11.3 million set aside by the supervisors for capital improvements throughout the county.

Officials of the Hermosa library did not yet know precisely how the money will be used.

Triad-cycle helps St. Jude's Hospital

Beach Shores Pre-school will hold a "bring a bike day" trike-a-thon during the week of Oct. 4 to raise funds for St. Jude's Hospital, a leading institution for research into childhood cancer.

The event will promote bicycle safety as it raises money for cancer research.

On Friday, Oct. 8, all the Beach Shores students will bring their bikes to school to show off skills such as stopping at stop signs.
