An Ultimate Soccer League kicks off in Manhattan Beach

Sportscaster Jimmy Roberts interviews South Bay kayak racer Cliff Meidl, who carried the American Flag in last week's opening ceremony at the Sydney Olympics. Meidl, a rower with Redondo's Lanakila outrigger club who lives in Hawthorne, is competing in his second Olympiad despite losing most of both knees to an electrical accident in 1986. Meidl was chosen to carry the Flag by a vote of the U.S. team captains.
