At the Hermosa Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs nearly 50 Easy Reader readers volunteered to serve over 600 dinners to neighbors during the 17th Annual Mama Liz/Easy Reader Thanksgiving Dinner, Musical Concert and Variety Show. Rick Hankus, owner of Ocean Diner and Java Man, oversaw the preparation of 35 turkeys, all cooked and brought to the Kiwanis kitchen by readers. Dona Dawick of Moore and Associates Realtors coordinated the volunteers. Fellow Moore and Associate Realtors donated turkeys and money. Joan Brogdon gathered donated supplies. The Sandpipers cooked five dozen pumpkin pies. Manhattan Bread and Bagel donated the rolls. Ray Riddle brought together a dozen fellow musicians, including guitarist/composer Dave Robyn, keyboard player Laurie Z and mezzo soprano Susan Susan Asborjnsen. And generous guests filled the tip jar with almost enough money for the event to have turned a profit.
