Celeb Sighting: Brooke Shields and her dude having dinner at Waterman’s Grill, Manhattan Ave, MB, last Wednesday night. Eric Piatkowski of the "vacationing" LA Clippers having drinks with his little bro Troy, a minor league baseball player in his own right at Grunions Bar & Grill, Sepulveda, MB. Coming Soon: Il Posto ristorante Italiano, PV. New Owners: Downtown Bakery & Café, Pier Plaza, HB. Check out the new French flair from "monsieur le chef." Open For Lunch: On the week-ends, Sangria, Pier Plaza, HB. Must mean summer is here. Lunch Special: $5.99 Express lunch at Ein Stein’s, Pier Ave, HB from 11am-4pm Monday-Friday. Wine Special: Half-price bottles of vino at Café Luna, Rolling Hills Road, Torrance, Mondays with purchase of two entrees. Happy Anniversary: Happy third year in biz to Chris at Papa Guido’s, Aviation, RB…

Keeping It In The Family: Scott and Sharon Cooper of Jackson’s Village Bistro, Pier Ave, HB, have got themselves a family biz now that former partner Lisa Foux has left the operation to return to her volunteer charity work after helping the resto get up and running. Recent changes include the enclosement, (is that a word?), of the heated patio with roll-away canvas curtains to keep it cozy when the breeze kicks in and new Champagne Brunch menu items, Saturdays and Sundays, $17.95per person…

Sunday Event: 2000 Grammy nominee for his album, "Life Is A Miracle," Pato Banton performs live at Chillers, RB this Sunday, April 29 from 4-7pm with his backup band, "Jah Soldier." I don’t think we’ve had a Reggae act this big since Jimmy Cliff jammed at The Strand/Club Caprice, PCH, RB, now Bristol Farms Market — still can’t get over that one. Check him out with a Suicide cocktail in one hand and someone on hand to keep you updated on the Laker score…

Sweet Treat: Next Wednesday, May 2 from 6-10pm, stop by any Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop, (PCH, RB or Sepulveda, MB), and cash in on "Free Scoop Night." They ask that you leave a donation to benefit First Book, a nonprofit organization that provides free new books to children of low-income families, for every scoop scooped. Yummy…

Big Break: South Bay local Lisa Moncayo, who can be found cracking jokes behind the bar at Grunions Bar & Grill, Sepulveda, MB, gets to show us her stuff in a more proper venue as she stars in The Zeitgeist Theatre Company presentation of "Night of Obliquity: An Evening of One Acts," at the Whitmore/Lindley Theatre, Magnolia Boulevard, North Hollywood. Four shows running Fridays and Saturdays, May 4, 5, 11 and 12. All show times at 8 pm. Call 818.506.8518 for ticket info. Support local talent so you can say you knew her when…

Plan On Being SMART: Save the date for the next SMART, (South Bay Mentor Assistance Resource Team), event being held next-next Saturday, Cinco de Mayo. The event called "SMARTARITA" is being held at "The Glass House," The Strand, MB, from 8pm till the booze runs dry.  $20 per person in advance/$25 at the door, (tax deductible), for all the Margaritas you can drink — ooo la la olé!  Proceeds go to benefit the SMART Foundation, a group raising money to help South Bay Schools with their mentoring programs. Call Michael Burstein at 546.5065 for more info and party for a good cause…

Playoff Action: I bet all you apathetic fans feel pretty silly for leaving the Kings game early last Wednesday — no wonder Al Davis keeps moving back to Oakland. Whatta series! They knocked off Detroit last Saturday and begin the second round tonight, Thursday, April 26 against former teammate Rob Blake and the Colorado Avalanche, 7pm. In local round-ball action, the Lakers face the Portland Trail Blazers in game two of the first round also tonight at 7:30pm. Should prove to be another great sports week-end. LA all the way! OK, so my fingers all cramped up whilst writing that one — you know I gotta root for my Knicks, also playing game two tonight against Toronto…
