Richstone Pier-to-Pier Walk, jog, crawl

Meet at the Manhattan Beach Pier to walk, jog or crawl to the Hermosa Beach Pier and back for the Richstone Family Center and Hawthorne Savings 14th annual "Pier-to-Pier" fundraiser. 7:30 a.m. 970-1921.

Seis de Mayo

Manhattan Beach, sister city to Santa Rosalia in Mexico, will celebrate Cinco De Mayo at a fiesta on Sunday, May 6, at Ruth Purdon’s fabulous home at 900 Highland Avenue. The celebration will begin at 5 p.m. with a social hour and dinner will follow at 6 p.m. The program will feature Mayor Walt Dougher installing the new sister city officers for 2001-2002. LAX tonight

The South Bay Cities Council of Governments will hold a meeting of the LAX Standing Committee to discuss the LAX Master Plan tonight, Thursday, April 26, at 5:45 p.m. at the Manhattan Heights Annex at 1560 Manhattan Beach Blvd. Barbara Lichman will present preliminary findings on the Draft EIR and discuss her analysis.


Teenage dating

On Thursday, May 10, the MBUSD Drug, Alcohol and Tobacco Education group will hold a workshop at Mira Costa High School from 7-9 p.m. Dr. Jill Murray will discuss abusive dating among teenagers.

Rafer Johnson, run, write, run

The Manhattan Beach branch of the American Association of University Women will hold an author’s luncheon on May 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Torrance Marriott, 3635 Fashion Way in Torrance.
