Seahawk cleanup

Redondo Union students, alumni and friends will spend the morning of Saturday, April 28 scrubbing, sweeping and mopping to help make the school a more beautiful place. The day starts at 9 a.m. and crews will be cleaning until noon. Free T-shirts, food and raffle prizes will be provided. For information call 798-8665.

Shores scores

In a come from behind victory, a five-member team from Redondo Shores High School placed first in the Star Quiz competition for the second year in a row. Star Quiz is a competition for continuation schools equivalent to the Academic Decathlon, testing students on knowledge of history, geography, science trivia and literature. In the last five years, Redondo Shores has taken first three times and third once. Team members Derek Duhon, Lucas Jordan, Jesse Ochoa, Max Otto and Ty Tielens were in seventh place at halftime, but managed to streak past teams from around Southern California to a two-point victory at the West Covina competition.

Join chamber of commerce members for a presentation on saving money on energy bills at the May Good Morning Breakfast the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 300 N. Harbor Drive, May 3 at 7:15 a.m. The guest speaker will be Glenn Tanner, president of energy conservation specialists GRT & Associates. Breakfast is $12 for members, $15 for non-members. ER
