With the Fourth of July drawing nigh, it’s time to start making plans for a holiday jog. For those too tame of heart for Hermosa Beach’s annual Ironman bash, the Village Runner 5K is a reasonably close substitute. The 5K run starts at 8 a.m. at the Village Runner shop at 1811 Catalina, winds down to the Esplanade to Torrance Boulevard and back to the shop. First place gets $200. Entry costs $18 before June 26, or $23 after. The kid’s dash costs $13 before June 26 and $17 afterwards. Call (310) 375-2626 for more information. ER
